The crowd is gathered in the town square, in front of a raised platform with a microphone, white picket railings and bunting that reminds the onlookers of the American flag. The people mill about, talking among themselves and wondering what the big news will be, and who will be delivering it. Presently, a short figure winds his way carefully through the early-morning crowd, holding a large coffee cup and trying not to spill its contents. The crowd settles a bit as the coffee-drinker ascends the stairs, flips a switch on the mic, and clears his throat.
"Ladies, Gentlemen, SBG members of all ages, " he begins. He steps back, takes a drink of coffee as the crowd quiets. Then he steps back to the mic and continues.
"Today, we recognize one of the most active, and yet under-appreciated members of our guild. This member can be seen both on the guild message board and in the forums daily. He has been active in Neopets battle tournaments, putting his pet on the line in support of the SBG. He is an avid gamer, making a name for himself not only in the Daq Poker league and the Food Club, but also in the fantasy sports leagues found in the
forums.
"Our esteemed member is an avid restocker in the Phoenix Feather Mall, and, last but not least, is one of your very own council members.
Without further ado, I give you your Member of the Month for July 2009,
NSTARZ!!!

Member of the month is a joyous occasion throughout the SBG and usually sparks tremendous feelings of gratitude for that month’s recipient. Parties sometimes run long into the night, highlighting tasty vittles and lucious libations. Members can be found snacking on ground beef smores, maggot pizza, or maybe even linty bologna.  The drink of the night varies with the mood of the crowd. One night it may be honey fly smoothies, another it may be bottles of Dr. Backwash with Clamade chasers. Dessert is usually the favorite course, with many calling for sardine pruneparfait, with a slice of fresh seaweed pie. But the great atmosphere of friendship is why we all come back month after month.
This week, this month, this year and forever after, we celebrate the committee’s selection for this month’s award.
W3, please step forward and kindly accept this simple plaque as our humble way of saying a tiny bit of thanks, you so richly deserve, for all you have done to setup and grow this great place we now all call home.
If there’s anyone out there who may not already be aware of who w3 really is, let me introduce you to him. He is not just our leader, he’s not just the founder of Neodaq, w3 is a legend across Neopets. And what makes someone a legend, you ask? Maybe it’s because from day one, he has lead all of us by example. He doesn’t ever boast, he never loses his temper, he never criticizes even when he has ample cause. He has never ceased in his desire to make Neodaq and it’s members the #1 place for everyone to enjoy visiting for great stock information, friendly advice on wealth in this game, and a welcome home they can always return to anytime. He has willingly given of his time for 7+ years and yes, even funded our wonderful Neodaq forums straight from his own pocket, to keep this site alive and well for all of us. And yet, after all this time, after all the great accomplishments, the near disasters, the good times and the bad, he has never forgotten his roots. He has never side-stepped or ignored the newest player, nor has he ever allowed a visitor to feel less than a friend when they come around. 
Great leaders are smart enough to surround themselves with other great people, knowing that it grows a force that will live strong forever. He would be the first to humbly give credit to his many friends, like Renegade_Yoda, Gramdragon4, Ejahn, Duck_Fanatic, Serena, Dyrama, GG, and the entire unending string of wonderful and loyal leaders that have followed all those older leaders. But through it all, he has always remained the glue that has held this ship together.
I have personally been backstage with w3 for the past 6+ years and have probably grown as much as anyone, under his loving and compassionate leadership. There were many times when I was upset, mad, and ready to swing the axe  …but he steadied me with his calm demeanor and kind words. He makes you litterally feel as if he’s thrown an arm around your shoulder and whispered..”it’s gonna be alright.”
W3, I could ramble on for hours of your accomplishments and cutting edge theories and work for this entire community, but I know it would only embarrass you more.  I will finish up by simply saying we each owe you far more than we can probably ever repay, but to honor you with this award is a tiny start. Along with it, comes our utmost gratitude, our devoted loyalty and an undying friendship.
W3, you may now display the MotM plaque in your user lookup, should you so desire, and expect a visit from our esteemed President Richie with a trade for you.

The lights in the auditorium dim, until only the podium on stage is visible. The audible sounds and murmurs from the restless crowd become hushed whispers. A lone spot light breaks through the darkness and forms a bullseye on the drapered wall left of center stage. As the curtain parts, a familiar figure strolls to the speaker’s stand, places a few papers under the small light and clears his throat.
“Ahem, ladies and gentlemen of the SBG. It is my pleasure to be standing before you tonight, to bring honor and recognition to one of our finest members. Tonight, I am here to reveal to you the very next inducted member into the prestigious club we have come to call …the SBG’s Member of the Month club.”
“Our Member of the month has been with us for five years, and what a five years it has been! The first major event in his SBG career was the 2004 edition of Survivor, and incredibly he placed third, and that was after being voted out once! He made a huge impression there, and we should have known it was a harbinger.”
“He's been the author of many of the tools we use every day, from the portfolio tracker, to the data mine, to the shop sales tracker. He re-engineered the charts and the stock data collection, to help track stock pricing trends. Most recently, he launched a new version of the Neodaq homepage, giving it a fresh look and making it easy for the staff to refresh with new information.”
“He rose quickly through the ranks to become President of the SBG, as well as the NeoDaq forums webmaster. Along the way, he has survived several adventures as a Boy Scout Master, always returning with amazing tales to tell. He sports a very sharp wit and has always treated all of us fairly and as equals.”
“By now, it should be obvious that this month's Member Of The Month is none other than our esteemed guild President, Richie!
Richie, we wanted to show you our respect and admiration for all you do, and have done for this wonderful family of ours here in the SBG. We not only honor you with the right to diplay the MotM plaque, but have also designed a unique plaque only for your use. You, and you alone, are now authorized to display our special plaque naming you as *Guru of the SBG*. The link to said new plaque will be shown at the bottom and you may place it in your user lookup, should you so desire. *Dob walks to the podium, as he normally does around this time each month.* 
Without saying a word, he slowly reaches inside his suit jacket(covered in "get out the vote" buttons), raises an aerosol can with a small bugel attached, and blows it into the microphone.  Unknowingly, Saundra had turned the volume wide open during testing and forgot to turn it back down. SBGers were literally ~blown~ from their chairs for the first 3 rows.  Opppsss, sorry folks, guess we need to leave the tech stuff to Java next time. Pausing a moment to allow the pandimonium to die down, Dob clears his throat and begins....
"My fellow Americans, sorry, wrong speech"...  My fellow SBGers, it gives me great pride to be honored to stand here before you tonight and bestow the honor to this month's recipient of the SBG Member of the Month. This month's winner was ear-marked for this award some 2-3 months ago, to be given this month. I've spent many sleepless nights worrying about this presentation and concerned greatly about the possibility of missing any important aspects connected to this person. I figured that no one person could possibly remember all the positive things this person has done for and with the SBG. Then it hit me......  Why even try? Why not hit the streets and ask a few of his peers just how they all feel about him? Why not include anyone who might be around, to say a few words about one of the greatest SBG guild members to ever grace these hallowed halls? So...pen and paper in hand, I began my survey poll of this month's winner.......our own beloved....Renegade_Yoda !!

Ladies and gentlemen…….I come before you this day with one of my proudest announcements!! This month there will be no word games, no hiding the winner’s name, no huge build-up to this announcement.
SBG’s Member of the Month for October, 2008……GRAMDRAGON4 !!!!!!!!!
Gram, as most of us know her, is the ultimate epitomy of the *perfect* SBG member!! She was one of the earliest members to join this guild, clear back when it first formed. She has remained true-green in her loyalty to the guild and it’s members for all of those years. She has given probably more of her time, effort and love to this family, than almost anyone else, short of Yoda & w3.
Gram has never faultered in her holding on to her roots. She has always remembered how important it is in being nice to new players, regardless of how long you’ve been here. She is very quick to offer great advice and a helping hand to those very new players who may be sort of floundering around in these huge halls of Neodaq. She has also never forgotten how important it is to a new member to receive the kudos for smaller accomplishments than some of us may have already achieved.
Gram has given many hundreds of hours of time in helping set up many of the original rules, shops, and policies that have made this family such a strong and fun place to come to everyday. In the past, Gram has ran many of her own events and, still to this day, competes in those now run by newer players. Her generousity, while huge, has never out-weighed her compassionate, detailed descriptions over countless posts, to direct new players down a long-lasting path of self-existance and success. I’d say Gram strongly believes the old addage of…”give a man a fish and you feed him for a day…TEACH him to fish and you feed him forever!” Gram, we thank you for all the very wise wisdom you have so willingly shared and poured into this great guild we call the SBG!
As time passed, Gram believed it was time for her to step back and allow some fresh blood and ideas to rise to the top of the guild. She more or less retired at that time, but stayed pretty active within the Daq. When total upheaval came to the guild body in Mar-Ap. of ’07, Gram was one of the first to step forward to offer her help and assisstance to right a faultering situation. Her strong, loving hands, once again, helped restore control, calm the stormy seas, and yes, even helped cut out the cancer that threatened the very existance of this fine family. There was never a moment when she asked ..”why do I have to leave my comfortable chair again?” She merely pitched in with all her knowledge and experience and accomplished yet another tough challenge that came before her. Gram, there are only enough members I can count on one hand, that I hold in higher respect than yourself. It is with the utmost pride, that I am allowed to present you with this much deserved award!
Gram has now decided that all things are set in such a fashion, that it’s once again the right time for her to step back and allow the new blood to rise to the surface. W3 bestowed on Gram the highest honor I can think of, by designating her to be 1 of the original 4 members allowed into the new *Council of Elders*, which is a group of distinguished SBG members that are set in place only to offer time, knowledge, experience and loyalty to the SBG, should that need ever arise again. Gram, we wish only the absolute greatest of things for you in your now 2nd retirement. I hope the need never arises again that calls you out of your easy chair….and that you continue to grace our doorway with your presence, wit and wisdom.
Gram, I’m very happy to announce that you are now approved to display the distinguished plaque for SBG’s Member of the Month in your user lookup, should you so decide. And if you’ll place a junk trade up, I’m sure our esteemed Pres. Mr. Richie, will be paying you a visit.
