Post Neopoint Sinks?
I've heard the term "neopoint sink" recently. Especially with regards to the "Save The Wheel" campaign...

I get the basic idea, drain some NP from the richest users but what is the point of it all? Could someone explain it to me?

Post Re: Neopoint Sinks?
basically when money supple grows to quickly (the total number of np in the economy) there is inflation, this causes tons of desirable items to have extremely high prices. This is something that TNT wants to avoid, therefore they come up with "np sinks" to try to take some np out of the economy (or at least provide a balance for all the np that are being created on a daily basis)

Gold sink is an economic process by which gold, or any item that can be valued against gold, is removed. The term has become heavily associated with video games that have items of tradable value. Most commonly the genres are role-playing game or massively multiplayer online game. The term is comparable to timesink, but usually used in reference to game design and balance, commonly to reduce inflation when commodities and wealth are continually fed to players through sources such as quests, looting monsters, or minigames.

The whole wiki article is really interesting, if you have time for it.

Ooh, this Save the Wheels plot could be very dangerous for my bank account... JellyNeo has a list of prizes for donating, and the top ones are very attractive indeed...

Are any prizes worth "buying"?

I'm assuming they'll only "save" one wheel at a time... The first time I saw the page, I thought the counter was Neopoints needed to save a wheel - much like the counter that appears periodically at the Tombola. Now I realize that it's counting up, not down, but even so, I don't think they'll revamp more than one wheel at a time. TNT hasn't indicated any target amount per wheel, and even if they had, I doubt they'd count any over-donation toward the next one.

Remember, the entire idea here is to remove large amounts of Neopoints from the economy - so the longer TNT can keep people donating, the better. It's not in their interest to revamp more than one wheel at a time.

Seems to me that the higher-priced backgrounds, weapons, and stamps might be worth it. The market's bound to be flooded with eg. the cheap books, because everyone will have the same idea and jump on the hoarding bandwagon - but only those who (1) know about the event in the first place, (2) care about hoarding, and (3) have a large amount of Neopoints to invest will buy the high-priced items.

I'd say it requires an equal amount to the total amount of time it takes to code the new image for the wheels and the amount donated be of little importance

The "Save the Wheels!" FAQ seems to indicate that this will be going on for the next four weeks. Maybe a week for each wheel? If they don't change the prizes, the bloom could quickly be off the rose.

All the top prizes are currently trading well below the donation amount required to win them. If TNT doesn't change the prizes when the wheel changes, it definitely looks like it will be worth the wait to buy them on the TP in a few weeks, rather than winning them now with a donation.
